Welcome to Shiner, TX, "The Cleanest Little City in Texas." Located at the intersection of US Highway 90A and State Highway 95, fourteen miles west of Hallettsville, TX, in western Lavaca County. It began as an Indian settlement called Half Moon, which was home to ranchers, Indians, outlaws, Texas Rangers - and cotton was "King."

In 1885, a post office called Half Moon was opened at a trading post near the present site of Shiner. When the San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railway came to the area in 1887, it bypassed Half Moon and built through land owned by Henry B. Shiner. Mr. Shiner donated 250 acres for a right-of-way and depot, and a town soon grew around the new transportation facilities. At first, the community was called New Half Moon, but in 1888, its name was changed to Shiner. Shiner was incorporated in 1890, and L.P. Amsler was elected the first mayor.

Today Shiner has many agricultural products, such as dairy and beef cattle, cotton and corn; and industrial products such as wire products, grill guards, and plastics. Of course, Shiner is perhaps most well-known for the line of Shiner beers, brewed at the Spoetzl Brewery, but there are many other shops and services to be found in our little town. Visit these sites or discover others on your own!

At Shinerville Coffee House we pride ourselves on providing  high quality, artisan roasted coffee beans. We work with local dairy suppliers and bakeries to source the freshest, highest quality offerings. Sunny days guarantee that our patio will be full of guests enjoying a drink or treat. On not-so-sunny days, we also offer comfortable seating inside our cafe with free wifi and plenty of outlets! Although we offer a wide variety of hot and iced drinks, we also provide savory and sweet food options. So whether you're stopping for your morning coffee, lunch, or an afternoon snack, we've got you covered!

Since 1909, every drop of Shiner Beer has been brewed at the Spoetzl Brewery in Shiner, TX (population 2069). Today our little brewery sends more than 6 million cases of delicious Shiner Beer to states across the country. We think our founder, Kosmos Spoetzl, would be pretty proud.
